Operation Cold Warriors was a covert field operation conducted by the Los Angeles Counter Terrorist Unit on December 24, 2006. The operation was conducted in Alaska.
On December 21, 2006, the Los Angeles Counter Terrorist Unit began tracking the movement of a Russian terrorist group after they hijacked a government transport carrying top secret communications software capable of disrupting all wireless communications and destroying any information on wireless devices.
On December 22, 2006, Jason Blaine located Sergei, a member of the terrorist group, and through interrogation learned that the software was being taken to Station 1217, a remote government communications outpost in Langston, Alaska. Blaine also learned that a mole had informed the Russians of the location of the base. Furthermore, Blaine learned that the terrorists were led by former Soviet Secret Ops member Oleg Malenov.
Bill Buchanan, the Director of the Los Angeles Counter Terrorist Unit, officially ordered the execution of the operation on December 23, 2006, and received approval from the National Security Advisor. Buchanan sent Blaine, analyst Chloe O'Brian, and field agent Amy Seelaki to Alaska to stop the terrorists.

At 6:00 AM, on December 24, 2006, Randy Bishop, the sole worker at Station 1217, deactivated the station's security systems and allowed the Russian terrorists into the station, thus revealing Bishop to be the mole.
At 6:15 AM, Blaine, O'Brian, and Seelaki arrived at the station by helicopter and landed a mile away due to weather restrictions. Due to the restrictions, the chopper was forced to return to its base.
At 6:20 AM, Malenov and his men had completely secured the station and terrorist Dimitri was assigned to patrol the station. Bishop then led terrorists Fedor and Katrina to the deployment area for the software, where he helped the team boot a virus into the computer systems.
At 6:30 AM, Blaine and his team reached the station and entered without resistance as the security systems were still down. Meanwhile, the virus engaged and began to take out wireless communications. Blaine called Buchanan to inform him that they have entered the station. Buchanan tried to inform Blaine that a major anomally was detected from their location, but audio was cut before he could continue. Buchanan and Blaine both deduced that the virus must have been released, causing cell service to go down. At the CTU, Buchanan ordered that all attention be put towards getting into contact with Station 1217. Pressman informed Buchanan that satellite communication has been lost. Buchanan and Blaine both realized that Blaine's team is cut off.
At 6:35 AM, the virus completely shut down Alaska and was beginning to work into Canada. Meanwhile, Buchanan and President Logan agree to claim that the storm in Alaska was the cause of the mobile shutdown.
At 6:40 AM, Blaine encountered Malenov and Dimitri and a shootout ensued. To quell the stand off, Blaine rolled a gas canister towards the terrorists. Blaine shot it and it exploded, killing Dimitri and causing the terrorists to flee. Blaine and his team began to pursue after them.
At 6:45 AM, Blaine's team reached the communications room, where they encountered Bishop. Bishop attempted to resist and Blaine was forced to kill him. Once the communications room was secured, O'Brian began to attempt to stop the virus. O'Brian informed the team that she needed the USB memory stick that the terrorists have to deactivate the virus.
At 6:50 AM, the terrorists escaped the station on a snow cat. Blaine and Seelaki acquired another snow cat and began to pursue. When they caught up with the terrorists, Blaine shot their fuel tank. The terrorists got out of the vehicle and tried to run for safety but Blaine managed to kill Katrina. Malenov began to flee but Fedor stayed behind to slow Blaine and Seelaki down. He slices Blaine's arm with a knife and then shoots Seelaki in the head, killing her. In retaliation, Blaine shot Fedor in the knee and slit his throat with Fedor's knife. Blaine finally reached Malenov and executed him, while at the same time recovering the USB drive.
At 7:15 AM, Blaine returned to the station and gave O'Brian the USB drive, effectively stopping the virus.
At 7:30 AM, President Logan ordered the destruction of the station. Blaine and O'Brian then used explosives to completely level the facility, erasing all evidence of the wireless shutdown.
At 8:00 AM, Blaine and O'Brian were extracted by helicopter and travelled by airplane back to Los Angeles where they were debriefed. Seelaki posthumously received a commendation for her sacrifice.
